Dear VolksAI Community,

We're living through the early days of a technological shift that most people are experiencing without a map. Millions of AI queries happen every single day, and yet for a huge part of our population, including our grandparents, our neighbors, and the seniors in every community around us, that shift is arriving as confusion rather than opportunity. Many older adults hear about AI constantly in the news, yet have never had the chance to sit down with someone patient enough to actually explain it to them.

VolksAI exists to close that gap. We believe artificial intelligence should serve people, not intimidate them. That means meeting seniors where they are, teaching them not just how to use these tools, but how to use them safely and with confidence. It means walking through real, practical situations: planning a trip with a grandchild, staying in touch with family, or recognizing the scams and manipulation tactics that increasingly prey on exactly the kind of confusion this moment creates. It also means investing in research, because understanding how seniors actually learn, adopt, and sometimes misuse AI is the only way to make sure what we teach is built on evidence instead of assumption.

Just as importantly, VolksAI is building something bigger than any single workshop. Every student who becomes a VolksAI Fellow, and every Chapter President who brings this work to their own city, is proof that closing this gap does not require a large institution or years of resources. It requires people willing to sit down, listen, and teach what they already know.

We are not chasing some abstract, far off future. We are building a more capable and less anxious present, one senior helped, one student leader developed, and one community strengthened at a time.
